Celebrity fashion designer Patrick Grant has been on our screens as the host of The Great British Sewing Bee since it first started in 2013. The Scottish designer and businessman, 52, is known on the BBC show for his sharp suits and stylish moustache alongside co-presenter Esme Young. But what do we know about his life away from his TV career? Patrick was born in Edinburgh and was actually very into sports rather than sewing at school.
He was an avid rugby player and even represented his country at U18 and U19 level. He went on to play for West Hartlepool RFC, but his professional career was shattered by a shoulder injury. While studying for his MBA, he sold all of his possessions including his house and his car to buy Savile Row tailors Norton & Sons in 2005. He also borrowed money from a bank, his friends, two former classmates from Oxford, friends from Leeds and even his grandmother. Then struggling, the business went on to make £75million in turnover in a year.
He e sold the majority stake of Norton & Sons, but still remains a minority stake holder in the company, in 2021 - the same year he closed down E. Tautz & Sons and Hammond & Co. Patrick Grant's famous ex-girlfriend Patrick Grant has a very famous ex-girlfriend called Kate Hillier.
