The German national team lost in the quarterfinals of the EURO 2024 competition in dramatic fashion to a very good side from Spain, but there was much to unpack from the overall experience. Bavarian Podcast Works is unveiling a three-part mini-series on Germany’s performance at the tournament, so buckle up and take the ride with us. Here is what we have on tap for Episode 1 of this mini-series as we look at the team’s progress under head coach Julian Nagelsmann: It is important to remember that this showing represented progress.

The ability to connect with players was key and the team responded to the coaching staff. There was a true sense of “oneness” and “team” within the squad. Nagelsmann still tinkers too much, is too loyal to certain players, and can’t help overcomplicating things.

Nagelsmann needs to manage the generational transition very carefully. Overall, Germany is headed in the right direction. Support Bavarian Podcast Works on Patreon!
