Former US President, Barack Obama has penned a tribute to celebrate the times and legacies of mother-in-law, Marian Robinson. PUNCH Online earlier reported the deceased’s daughter announced the death of her mother late Friday night. She passed away at the age of 86.
Meanwhile, Barack Obama via his Medium account also shared a statement to reflect on the deceased life and times and legacy. Posted late Friday night, it was titled, “Statement on the Passing of Mrs. Marian Robinson from Barack and Michelle Obama, Craig and Kelly Robinson, and their children.
” Obama described the late Marian Lois Shields Robinson as our mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother, who became a steady and loving rock for her family. “Marian Lois Shields Robinson — our mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother — had a way of summing up the truths about life in a word or two, maybe a quick phrase that made everyone around her stop and think. “Her wisdom came off as almost innate, as something she was born with, but in reality, it was hard-earned, fashioned by her deep understanding that the world’s roughest edges could always be sanded down with a little grace.
She grew up one of seven children on the red-lined South Side of Chicago, the daughter of Purnell Shields and Rebecca Jumper. When she was a teenager, her parents separated and her mother supported herself as a nursing aide.
