APTOS — Hunter LaTorre had two hits, four RBI, and scored a run, as Aptos Little League’s 11s All-Stars eliminated Santa Teresa in dominant fashion, 15-0, in the Section 5 Tournament on Sunday. Aptos faces unbeaten Lincoln Glen in the championship on Monday at 5:30 p.m.
If Aptos wins, the teams will play in a winner-take-all game Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. “The kids played well today,” Aptos Manager Tim Reilly said.
“We bounced back from loss just like we knew they were capable. The team hit well and played solid defense. Cruz Brenner was efficient on the mound and delivered big time for us.
“The boys are ready for tomorrow (Monday) and excited for opportunity to battle Lincoln Glen again. This will be a different team than they (Lincoln Glen) saw last time.” The section winner advances to the advances to the NorCal State Tournament, which begins Saturday at Chico Eastside L.
L. Lincoln Glen, the D-12 champion, has outscored opponents 31-5 through three section games, including a 10-4 win over Aptos in the winner’s bracket semifinal Saturday. “Lincoln Glen is a solid team, not overpowering but sound on the fundamentals,” Tim Reilly said.
“Our guys have faced and fought through adversity before. This is no different. If we play Aptos baseball, then no question we’re playing for the ‘Ship on Tuesday evening.
” Aptos, the D-39 champ, led D-59 champ Santa Teresa 1-0 through three innings, but scored 14 runs over the final three innings to break the game open, .
