Born in Maryland, Reese attended Saint Frances Academy High School and College in Baltimore before it was announced that should would transfer to Baton Rogue, Louisiana, in 2022 to join LSU’s program. Her decision richly paid off for her career as she was named SEC Player of the Year before declaring for the 2024 draft. She earned the “Bayou Barbie” moniker based on her interest in luxury fashion, the embrace of the color pink and Louisiana’s association with bayous, the slow-moving bodies of water found in low-lying areas of the American Southeast.
Earlier this year, she wrote on X: "I need a new name now that i’m in Chicago. Something cute that is catchy like Bayou Barbie."
