How do you make a statement with your without upstaging the bride? It’s a dilemma that Ananya Panday seems to have figured out. When she is sporting an eye-catching outfit, she underplays it by going minimal with the accessories. Or mellows the makeup.
With pared-down pieces, she amplifies her look with ornate jewellery to effortlessly tread the path between luxe and lowkey. For Shiv Shakti Puja and mehendi ceremony on July 10th Panday did just that with her Raw Mango lehenga. “Ananya is wearing our ‘Nifoler’ lehenga that is crafted in Varanasi silk brocade.
It is from Raw Mango’s Romantics collection that draws from 18th-century European history, often lavish and novel in technique,” shares creative director Sanjay Garg about the look. The surface ornamentation on the handwoven skirt illustrates chintz-like foliage and florals highlighted with . It speaks of the lifestyle that the era of excess aspired to live.
The ‘Smita' purple blouse, too, unravels the put-togetherness of the two influences. The creation is accentuated with the centuries-old zardozi embroidery, lending itself as peacock, and punctuated with pearls to form the scalloped neckline. Panday’s lehenga is complemented with the ‘Chirmi’ odhani from Raw Mango ‘Moomal’ edit, featuring graphic embroidered peacock motifs in aari embroidery and sitara border.
It’s hard to ignore the l. With the decadent colour, versatile three-quarter sleeves, V neckline and ballgown-esque cut, it’s the kin.
