What you might not have noticed though is that Rao Hydari has championed one silhouette in particular from Sanjay Garg—the veteran designer’s signature sharara sets crafted in heirloom-worthy brocades.

Her latest pick, too, underscores the rich handwoven , Kareena Kapoor Khan, Rashmika Mandanna, Preity G Zinta and Mrunal Thakur among many other stars have been spotted in the simple yet show-stopping sharara set in a panoply of colours. But few have been as dedicated to the creation as Rao Hydari, who picks up a new shade each season. Now, in June 2024, she delivered another memorable look by relying on a rani pink iteration.



Made using , the kurta with a plunging V-neckline, elbow-length sleeves and high side slits are laden with a jaal of palm trees and flowers in gold treads that appear as a wearable piece of art. The kurta is teamed with matching flared pants. A fuchsia organza dupatta with intricate embroidery completes her set.

In April amidst the press tour of the Netflix series , Rao Hydari turned to Raw Mango’s Radhika sharara set made with a bottle green Varanasi silk brocade that was drawn from the label’s archives using the elaborate technique where each motif is woven separately. The Usha ensemble featuring flora and peacock motifs was her choi.
