Liverpool is brimming with history with a number of buildings and places that are known across the world. From the Church of St Luke to St Andrew's Gardens, there are an abundance of places known just by their name. However, Scousers are known for being very proud of where they come from.

And despite these places having "official names" many from Liverpool will know them as something else entirely, after having given them a loving nickname that has stuck forever. Some places have now been confined to history or replaced by something else entirely. here are 12 places that can't shake off a nickname given by Scousers, This list isn't intended to be comprehensive, we've included just a number of 'nicknames' across the city through time.

The Bombed Out Church - Church of St Luke Bombed and burnt out during the Luftwaffe’s Blitz on Merseyside, Today we know it as a mainstay of the city centre’s architecture, a place to visit for one-off, quirky cultural experiences.

Before the bombing on May 6, 1941, regular worshippers attended St Luke’s and there were also stained glass in the windows, where now only fragments survive, including one of Liverpool's hidden Liver Birds. Since the bombing, St. Luke's has been affectionately known as "The Bombed-Out Church".

Today, it is home to fantastic events throughout the year, as well as a meeting spot for the end of a night out or organised protests. 11. The E.
