Tuesday, July 9, 2024 ZooMontana has recently reaffirmed its dedication to being an inclusive destination for autistic visitors and those with sensory sensitivities by renewing its Certified Autism CenterTM (CAC) status. Since obtaining this recognition from the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards in 2022, the zoo has actively met the renewal criteria and expanded its accessibility features. “ZooMontana is honored to be a Certified Autism CenterTM because every individual deserves an inclusive and welcoming experience,” says Jeff Ewelt, executive director of ZooMontana .

“Embracing autism certification isn’t just about meeting standards; it’s about ensuring that everyone, regardless of their unique needs, can enjoy and connect with the wonders of ZooMontana. It’s a commitment to empathy, understanding, and the belief that diversity enriches our community.” The zoo also unveiled the Foster Waterfowl Refuge, a new habitat designed as a natural passageway for migratory waterfowl, featuring waterfalls, indigenous flora, and a submerged fish viewing zone.
