Tuesday, June 18, 2024 Yulin, a city in southern China, recently energized its local big health industry by hosting a range of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM)-related cultural activities. On June 10, the 14th China (Yulin) Traditional Chinese Medicine Expo commenced in Yulin, located in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and celebrated as the “TCM capital of southern China.” This year’s TCM Expo coincided with the Dragon Boat Festival, attracting significant attention to TCM culture.
The event also saw the launch of 12 new investment projects spanning medical equipment, food processing, health-focused cultural tourism, and TCM plantations. At the expo’s opening ceremony, Deputy Mayor Fan Xiaohua highlighted Yulin’s burgeoning big health industry to attending experts and business leaders. They were captivated by the blend of TCM wisdom and cultural heritage showcased through a modern musical performance.
Yulin, recognized as the TCM hub of southern China, boasts the country’s third-largest TCM trading market, with annual transactions exceeding 12 billion yuan, according to Wang Chen, the Party chief of Yulin. During the expo, visitors explored various pavilions displaying local medical products and TCM plantation technologies. They also participated in TCM cultural forums, creative fairs, fashion shows inspired by the Compendium of Materia Medica, and experienced traditional Chinese acupuncture and massage techniques.
