A lady inadvertently journeyed a whopping 1,700 miles all the way from to the UK for her father's , only to discover she'd arrived a year early. Llarissa Pye, 29-year old Brit, was ecstatic upon hearing the news that her dad and his partner of three years, both at the age of 53, were engaged in December 2023. Having been a resident of the Canary Islands' Lanzarote for the last nine years, after she fell in love with the location during a friend's birthday trip, Llarissa was quick to act when she believed the wedding was imminent.
The mix-up occurred during a call with her dad revealing the nuptial dates where she misconstrued him, believing he announced the wedding would be taking place the following Saturday, which happened to be his birthday. Consequently, she hastily booked her £200 one-way ticket. The blunder was not discovered until Llarissa was actually aboard the plane and ready for departure on May 31, 2024, despite numerous conversations thereafter.
While the whole family found the situation amusing, Llarissa made the most out of her unexpected mini holiday in the UK, eventually returning to Lanzarote on June 4, 2024. In sharing her comical story, Llarissa, a bike rental worker residing in Puerto del Carmen, Lanzarote said: "So when they booked the dates it was about midnight for me. My dad must have said 'it's on my birthday next year'.
"But I heard 'we're sorry it's short notice, we understand if you can't make it'. I had to ask a girl to change shifts last minute.
