Tuesday, July 2, 2024 Plans are being lodged by London Northwestern Railway to extend an existing rail line, which could soon provide Manchester with an additional direct link to London Euston. This proposal, if approved, would significantly impact the railways travel industry by increasing connectivity between key regions in the UK. The potential changes are expected to have far-reaching effects on travelers both domestically and globally.

The proposed plans by London Northwestern Railway involve extending the current line that terminates at Crewe, to reach Manchester Victoria. This extension would establish a new direct rail link between Manchester and London Euston, offering an additional travel option for passengers. Furthermore, services between Stafford and Crewe are also proposed to be extended to Manchester Airport.



This move is aimed at providing greater convenience and accessibility for travelers flying in and out of Manchester. In addition to the direct link to London Euston, the plans include creating new direct routes from Rugeley, Lichfield, Tamworth, and Atherstone in the West Midlands to Manchester and Warrington. These new services are expected to be operational by the summer of 2026, significantly enhancing connectivity between the North West and the West Midlands.
