As the sun sets over Disneyland, I’m waiting in line for the Astro Orbitor– the last ride of my fifth and final day at the park. Behind me, a middle-aged American man strikes up a conversation, a common pastime for guests eagerly awaiting their turn on a ride. After he notes my thick Kiwi accent, I inform him I’m there for work.

I then ask why he’s there. “My wife died last month,” he confides, “and my kids sent me here to find happiness.” “I hope you find it,” I tell him sincerely.

“If my visit this week is any indication, I’m confident you’ll find something meaningful.”.
