Monday, May 20, 2024 This year’s National Travel & Tourism Week (May 19-25) carries the theme “Travel is Essential.” To mark the occasion, Visit Longmont has joined forces with the Longmont Economic Development Partnership (LEDP) to highlight the significant contribution tourism makes to the city’s economy. “National Travel & Tourism Week allows us to showcase the vital role tourism plays in Longmont’s economic development, while also promoting responsible stewardship of our community,” stated Visit Longmont CEO Sarah Leonard.
While Longmont’s tourism industry might go unnoticed at times, the numbers speak for themselves. In 2023, nearly 600,000 visitors injected $205 million into the local economy, supporting over 3,000 jobs. Food and beverage is a major draw for visitors, with restaurants, breweries, and accommodations receiving the lion’s share of tourist spending.
Longmont’s proximity to Rocky Mountain National Park and its own hiking trails add to the appeal. Beyond economic benefits, tourism fosters a vibrant community. It attracts new businesses and talented individuals who are drawn to the city’s charm.
