Thursday, July 11, 2024 Vancouver Airport and General Fusion leverage B.C.’s Integrated Marketplace for drone surveillance, advanced paging, and cutting-edge fusion diagnostics.

Three innovative initiatives have received funding via British Columbia’s Integrated Marketplace program, spearheaded by Innovate BC . Two of these projects are designed to enhance the operational efficiency of Vancouver International Airport (YVR) by implementing drone-based runway surveillance and upgrading the terminal’s paging communication system. The third project focuses on advancing a cutting-edge diagnostic component for General Fusion’s latest Magnetized Target Fusion (MTF) device, known as Lawson Machine 26 (LM26).



“Creating innovative ideas and solutions that reduce emissions, improve competitiveness and support local companies is essential for creating a strong economy that moves British Columbians forward,” said Brenda Bailey , Minister of Jobs, Economic Development and Innovation. “I look forward to seeing the contributions these three projects will make to people in B.C.

and globally.” Designed to foster innovation in the region, the Integrated Marketplace connects strategic partners with testbeds—such as airports, seaports, mines, health networks, farms, or digital platforms—and B.C.

-based solution providers to deploy, scale, and export technology solutions from British Columbia. This initiative helps local industries adopt new technologies while providing solution.
