PEOPLE heading into Dublin this weekend have been urged to be aware that public transport will be "extremely busy". Some 600,000 people are expected to flock to the capital over Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with a range of events set to take place. Taylor Swift and Shania Twain will perform for thousands whilst punters party at Longitude Festival in Marlay Park and GAA fans keep a keen eye on the match at Croke Park .

There will also be a range of Pride festivities happening across the city and some streets closed off for the event. Irish Rail have warned passengers that their services will be "extremely busy" over the 28th and 30th of June due several events scheduled over the weekend. They confirmed that their events team and An Garda Siochana will be on hand to help.



However they warned any passengers planning their trip that they MUST have a ticket booked in advance in order to travel in advance and should arrive at the station early. People have also been urged to avoid travelling at busy times if possible and have been advised to bring water on their journey. Passengers have also been warned that bikes are not permitted on DARTS or commuter services as they will be "too busy".

Irish Rail also reminded people that alcohol is not allowed on board and may be confiscated. Many Intercity services are sold out and people have urged to check the journey planner before travelling.
