Saturday, July 6, 2024 Unifor Local 3000 members at the Coast Coal Harbour Hotel have ratified a collective agreement featuring substantial wage increases and reduced workloads for housekeepers. “This agreement sets a new standard in the hospitality industry for all hotel workers,” said Unifor National President Lana Payne. “The bargaining committee’s success is due to the strength and solidarity of our members on the floor.

” The three-year agreement will see wages increase by 22% to 32%, equating to hourly raises between $4.19 and $6.81, depending on job classification.



The annual vision care benefit will rise to $350, and members are now eligible for up to $3,000 in orthodontic care. Additionally, housekeepers will have a reduced daily room limit. “Unifor members are integral to making the Coast Coal Harbour Hotel a cornerstone of Vancouver’s downtown hospitality sector,” said Unifor Western Regional Director Gavin McGarrigle.

“This contract reflects the professional and high-quality work of Local 3000, and they should be proud of their achievements.” The agreement also designates the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Boxing Day as paid holidays. Local 3000 has successfully enhanced workplace protocols to promote respect, integrity, and trust.
