This event is coordinated alongside the 36th Joint Meeting of the UN Tourism Commission for East Asia and the Pacific & the UN Tourism Commission for South Asia. This marks a significant milestone as it elevates the Gastronomy Forum to a regional platform for the first time.
Asia and Pacific Regional Gastronomy Forum: A New Chapter Building on its global acclaim, the forum, held annually by UN Tourism and the Basque Culinary Center, now extends its reach to the Asia-Pacific region. The Philippine government will host this premier event, aiming to establish a collaborative space for experts and member nations to foster gastronomy tourism for destination enhancement. The forum will feature a Ministerial dialogue focused on formulating a strategic plan to propel gastronomy tourism forward in the region.
A key highlight includes a panel discussion emphasizing the conservation of local customs and sustainable practices to protect natural resources crucial for gastronomy tourism. This panel will showcase innovative solutions from Japan, the Philippines, and Sri Lanka. The event will also highlight contributions from various destinations and specialists in gastronomy tourism, advocating for social inclusiveness.
