A beloved known as Callum has tragically been put to sleep after his teeth were wrecked by visitors feeding him. The majestic beast, hailed as a "local legend" in a , suffered health woes because of well-meaning tourists chucking him snacks. Frequently seen mooching about the Beinn Eighe car park in Torridon, Callum was often given 'treats' by passers-by.

Tragically, munching on inappropriate snacks led to the deterioration of Callum's pearly whites, leaving him unable to forage for food when winter hit. According to locals, the beloved stag was fed the wrong food, including croissants, Rice Krispies, fruit and cereal bars by hikers, causing him to lose most of his teeth The National Trust for Scotland has now heartbreakingly confirmed that they had no choice but to put Callum down due to his dire health struggles. A spokesperson from the National Trust for Scotland lamented: "We are saddened to say that following expert vet advice, Callum the stag, who was often found in the car park at Torridon, has had to be humanely put down.



" They added: "We know that many in the community, and visitors too, will be sorry to hear this." "As a conservation charity, we take our responsibilities for animal welfare seriously and the advice was that this was the kindest option." Callum's demise has left his admirers gutted, with local Highland Historian Andrew Grant McKenzie paying tribute to the stag as a "local legend.
