DENVER — Thunderstorms were causing hundreds of delays Thursday afternoon at Denver International Airport. As of 4 p.m.
Thursday, FlightAware was reporting 447 delays and four cancellations at Colorado's largest airport. The most affected airlines are Southwest, United, Skywest, Air Canada, Sun Country Airlines and Lufthansa. DIA is under a ground stop due to thunderstorms, according to the Federal Aviation Administration .
It's expected to be in place until 5 p.m. Storms are moving through the Front Range, including in Arvada, Westminster and Thornton.
A tornado warning was issued for part of Weld County until 4:15 p.m. A severe thunderstorm watch was issued for northeastern Colorado until 7 p.
m. with tennis ball-sized hail and tornadoes possible. The main threats are hail and strong wind gusts.
Heavy rainfall might produce some localized flooding as well, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. The National Weather Service warned that brief landspouts are possible from northeast of Boulder into Weld County.
