A PUB in a UK seaside village has been named the best in England, after it impressed judges with its food, choice of drinks and picturesque setting. The Visit England awards picks and praises the best that England has to offer every year, with this year's winners finally revealed. Included in its categories is Pub of the Year, which celebrates the best boozers in England.
And taking top spot in this year's awards was the Peterville Inn in St Agnes, Cornwall. The Peterville describes itself as a "traditional" pub and is no stranger to claiming awards. Back in November it was named Gold Pub of the Year at the Cornwall Tourism Awards, earning it local recognition.

Writing in their brochure, Visit England said: "Tom and Lara Trubshaw set up The Peterville Inn in St Agnes village after spotting a gap in the market for a quality dining pub. "The couple’s vision for the pub was to produce a high-quality menu celebrating local produce and seasonality, along with a strong bar offering.
"The pub now offers three areas – an outdoor decked space, a cosy indoor bar with an all-day menu, as well as an evening restaurant offering à la carte options, topped off with an extensive hand-selected wine list, local ales, ciders and house-created cocktails." As well as its food and drink , the pub's setting is equally as impressive, with one of the area's favourite beach spots, Tr.
