Tuesday, May 28, 2024 During a ministerial briefing marking the first year of the Tinubu administration, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace, Festus Keyamo, made a significant announcement – the indefinite suspension of the Air Nigeria Airline project. Keyamo emphasized that the airline, purported to be Nigerian, was in reality a guise, using a foreign airline to pose as the national carrier. This decision comes after the House of Representatives Committee on Aviation, in June last year, urged the suspension of Nigeria Air’s establishment.
They further advocated for legal action against individuals involved in the unveiling of the national carrier by the previous administration, denouncing the event as deceitful. In a related event, on May 26, the former Aviation Minister, Hadi Sirika, unveiled an aircraft purported to belong to the national carrier at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
