People love a good freebie, especially when travelling. But there is one issue around hotel room items that has some Aussies divided. In a recent Nine reader survey, we asked the question 'what's one item you have taken from a hotel room?' And the responses were mixed.

Toiletries were the most common freebie pocketed by guests, with 58 per cent of respondents saying they had helped themselves to shampoo, body lotion and the like. Another 20 per cent of respondents shared they had taken with them the tea and/or coffee often provided in rooms.
Those small sachets can definitely come in handy while on the road. Other items that people had 'taken' included slippers (three per cent) and bath towels (one per cent). However, it's worth noting that some hotels will charge guests for missing linen.

In fact, 17 per cent of respondents shared they had never actually taken anything. One person even called it out as bad etiquette.
