LOCATED in the east of the country is a gorgeous hidden beach that many don't know about. Baginbun Beach is situated in Ramstown, Co Wexford . The hidden gem is perfect for a family day out, nearby to a popular Irish town.

The sandy beach is situated on the Hook Peninsula in south west Co Wexford. Cliffs shelter the beach from the winds, making it a secluded beach ideal for relaxing or having a picnic. The exposed rock gives it a lovely scenery, and the water at the beach is very calm with gentle and slow waves.

These towers were rudimentary defences placed on the coastline constructed throughout the British Empire from the time of the French Revolutionary Wars.

The towers consisted of a single gun placement on the roof which is able to point in any direction. The beach has won a Green Coast Award for its water quality and good management. There is a small carpark on the site at the end of the road from Yoletown overlooking the beach, fitting around 10 cars.

Unfortunately, the beach is not accessible for wheelchair users. As the water is calm and protected from the wind, it is a popular spot for swimming. There are no lifeguards on duty, however, so it is recommended to only enter the water if you are a capable swimmer.

Fethard-on-Sea is located 2km away, while New Ross is 30km away. The beach and the nearby Bannow was.
