A popular holiday town has banned penis costumes and sex dolls with fines of up to £1,276 for anyone found in violation. Platja d’Aro, a t, is cracking down on the genitalia themed costumes so beloved by in an effort to clean the streets up. Mayor Maurici Jimenez says if he had it his way, he would ban the parties altogether.

The new law prohibits people from appearing "on the public thoroughfare without clothing or only in their underwear or with clothing or accessories representing human genitals or with dolls or other accessories of a sexual nature." Jimenez says "These attitudes have an impact on the community's coexistence and we need to fight against them." He added that bachelor parties can exceed the acceptable norms of behaviour, and the law is aimed at calming this.



The local police chief David Puerta mentioned a recent incident where a soon-to-be groom was tied to a lamppost in the middle of the street as loud music blared - an incident which caused disruption to the neighbours. This isn't the first town aiming to curb pre-wedding festivities. Similar restrictions have already been put in place in Tossa De Mar and Lloret de Mar, also in Costa Brava, as well as cities like Sevilla, Malaga, and Granada in southern Spain.

In 2022, Malaga outlawed inflatable sex dolls as part of a clampdown on stag and hen nights due to a reported increase in anti-social behaviour often associated with these types of parties. The latest ban follows on from a which ended in the arres.
