A lifeline bus travel service for passengers was put at risk after the contractor running the route declared bankruptcy. However, following intervention by l, a replacement has been found to ensure the route is still active. The number 60 bus service which operates from , Wotton-under-Edge and Thornbury was put at risk after the operator Transpora declared bankruptcy last week, the county council said in a statement.
Passengers can rest easy knowing there is an appointment of a new provider, the council added. Gloucestershire County Council has found a speedy replacement and Stagecoach will officially take over the emergency provision until August 31. 2024.
Then a full procurement will take place. Councillor Philip Robinson, cabinet member whose portfolio includes buses, said: “It’s a shame to see any business cease trading but our priority here has been to secure the service for our passengers and I’m pleased to see that we’ve been able to do this successfully with no gap in service.”.
