Thursday, July 4, 2024 Kick off the summer with Southwest Airlines and the Discovery Channel’s exhilarating “Shark Week,” featuring themed “Fin Flights” and thrilling inflight entertainment. This summer, on Monday, July 1, Southwest Airlines launched an unexpected “Fin Flight” to mark the 11th anniversary of their collaboration with Shark Week. The festivities started with a Shark-themed trivia contest at the gate in Dallas (Love Field), where participants won beach balls and sunglasses.

The excitement peaked as Southwest staff surprised passengers with a themed “Fin Flight” to Los Angeles (LAX), where passengers were greeted with Shark Week’s famous fin hats and eye masks as fun keepsakes. Moreover, Chompie, the beloved Shark Week mascot, delighted fans with a surprise visit and even joined the flight to LAX! Aboard the flight, adult passengers enjoyed a complimentary drink featuring a Shark Week Special with a gummy shark topping. Southwest team members, donned in unique Shark Week co-branded t-shirts, welcomed passengers as they arrived in LAX.



The adventure continues beyond this event. Southwest is set to host another surprise “Fin Flight” during Shark Week, which kicks off on Sunday, July 7, at 8:00 p.m.

Throughout July, passengers can immerse themselves in Shark Week with exclusive inflight content. Starting July 1, Southwest offers its passengers unique access to the “Shark Week” On Demand TV series through its Inflight Entertainment Portal..
