Tuesday, June 25, 2024 Shangri-La Eros New Delhi is taking a major step forward in its commitment to environmental sustainability by unveiling its new on-site water bottling facility, named ‘Essence’. This initiative highlights the hotel’s dedication to providing top-quality amenities while also protecting natural ecosystems. At the heart of its sustainable efforts, Shangri-La Eros New Delhi now operates its own water treatment system, where it filters and bottles clean, safe drinking water.
This move is in perfect harmony with the hotel’s ecological goals and supports the preservation of local environments. The facility utilizes innovative Capacitive Deionization (CDI) technology to remove impurities from water using a process that avoids harsh chemicals and membrane filters. Through several stages of filtration and the application of ozone as a disinfectant, the water is rendered pure and safe for consumption.
Shangri-La Eros New Delhi offers this purified water in reusable glass bottles, significantly reducing plastic waste by avoiding about 122,304 single-use plastic bottles over the course of roughly two and a half months. This eco-friendly water is now available throughout the hotel, including in guest rooms, dining areas, and event spaces. The introduction of the water bottling plant is a part of Shangri-La’s broader strategy to eliminate single-use plastics and enhance the guest experience by integrating sustainable practices into its operations.
