Tuesday, July 2, 2024 Alstom , a global frontrunner in smart and sustainable mobility solutions, and Linha Universidade (LinhaUni) have revealed the new train designs for São Paulo’s Metro Line 6. The trains, adorned with orange accents to align with the line’s branding, are designed to be lighter and more energy-efficient, offering an enhanced passenger experience. The design optimizes door and corridor spacing to improve passenger flow and movement, with dedicated spaces for those with reduced mobility.
Large windows and doors ensure passengers enjoy clear views, providing a smooth, safe, and comfortable journey. These trains will incorporate advanced technologies such as passenger counting systems, dynamic line maps, monitors, video surveillance, an optical smoke detection system, and fire extinguishing capabilities. Constructed from stainless steel, the trains boast durability with structures lasting over 40 years and are lighter than their carbon steel counterparts.
Each train can accommodate up to 2,044 passengers, and the line is projected to serve approximately 633,000 passengers daily. Utilizing Unattended Train Operation (UTO) technology, the Line-6 Orange trains can reach speeds of up to 90 kilometers per hour. A total of twenty-two trains, each consisting of six cars, will be produced at Alstom’s Taubaté facility in São Paulo.
