Tuesday, June 11, 2024 Ryanair released its June OTA Pirate Survey today (11 June), highlighting that eDreams is still misleading its customers with deceptive practices. The survey found that eDreams’ “Prime” subscription service is significantly overcharging members; an Easyjet flight available directly from the airline for €31.99 was sold for €44 through eDreams, a markup of over 38%.

Similarly, eDreams advertised a Wizz Air flight for €60 and offered it to its Prime members for €38, despite the same flight being available on Wizz Air’s official site for just €31.99. Despite not offering Ryanair fares this June, eDreams has continued to overcharge for flights from other carriers.

The survey underscores that the eDreams “Prime” subscription does not provide the promised discounts, instead using hidden fees to inflate prices under the guise of offering deals. Ryanair is urging increased consumer protection against such OTA Pirates and has appealed to Spanish Consumer Affairs Minister Pablo Bustinduy to mandate transparent pricing and ban the deceptive “Prime” model, akin to the standards set by Ryanair’s “Approved OTA” partners. Ryanair’s Dara Brady said : “It’s no surprise that eDreams has yet again been exposed as our June OTA Pirate of the month, overcharging even its “Prime” consumers up to 38% for flights.

It is shocking that consumers are being duped into believing that they are getting discounted prices when they sign up for eD.
