Friday, May 31, 2024 In 2023, Raleigh-Durham International Airport emerged as the fastest-growing Top 50 airport in the nation, with a remarkable 22% increase in passenger traffic compared to the previous year. This ranking, based on U.S.

DOT data, reflects the number of passengers boarding flights at major airports throughout the year. Additionally, RDU set a new record for passenger traffic in 2023, introducing four new airlines, 25 new destinations, and 49 new routes. The airport’s impressive expansion highlights its growing importance as a major hub for travelers.



Looking ahead, RDU is set to add three new international destinations this year, bringing its total to a record-breaking 10. This expansion marks the most international destinations the airport has ever served, further enhancing its global connectivity. Following RDU, San Francisco International Airport, Washington-Dulles International Airport, and Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico, secured the second through fourth spots with growth rates of approximately 18%.
