Additionally, RDU set a new record for passenger traffic in 2023, introducing four new airlines, 25 new destinations, and 49 new routes. The airport’s impressive expansion highlights its growing importance as a major hub for travelers.
Looking ahead, RDU is set to add three new international destinations this year, bringing its total to a record-breaking 10. This expansion marks the most international destinations the airport has ever served, further enhancing its global connectivity. Following RDU, San Francisco International Airport, Washington-Dulles International Airport, and Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico, secured the second through fourth spots with growth rates of approximately 18%.
