Saturday, June 8, 2024 Qatar Museums and the Municipality of Venice have announced the signing of a Protocol of Cooperation to strengthen their existing relationships and enhance collaboration in cultural and socio-economic fields. This agreement coincides with Qatar Airways’ announcement to resume direct flights between Doha and Venice on June 12. Additionally, Venice celebrates the opening of the Art for Tomorrow conference, presented by The Democracy & Culture Foundation with Qatar Museums as a founding partner.
Recognizing their shared interests, Qatar Museums and Venice will engage in activities that add value to their cultural heritage, improve knowledge conditions, and encourage business investment, especially in art, preservation, sport, and entertainment. Potential activities include developing exhibitions and seminars on the historical links between Italian and Islamic art and architecture; participating in international festivals and exhibitions; scholarly collaborations such as producing art publications and co-organizing research visits; promoting connections between sporting organizations; exhibiting collections and organizing thematic seminars; and cooperating in the protection and regeneration of cultural heritage, including exchanging information and implementing structural interventions to restore symbolic parts of Venice.
