Monday, May 20, 2024 Qatar is strategically combining tourism and sports to become a leading cruise destination and is advised to enhance its global presence by establishing multiple tourism offices worldwide. Following successful models like Spain and Singapore, PwC suggests that Qatar can significantly amplify its international visibility through similar initiatives. Spain has 33 tourism offices globally and has invested millions in 175 tourism sustainability projects.

Singapore has a three-year partnership with Warner Bros and allows visa-free short stays for visitors from over 150 countries. PwC’s report recommends that Qatar set up tourism offices and collaborate with celebrities, bloggers, influencers, and global entertainment platforms to boost its global outreach. These steps are expected to significantly enhance Qatar’s content outreach and international presence.



Key Recommendations: Qatar has heavily invested in developing top-notch sports facilities, such as the FIFA World Cup 2022 stadiums and the Lusail International Circuit. The country aims to provide visitors with a holistic experience by improving tourism infrastructure. The 2023-24 cruise season marked one of the largest ever for Qatar Tourism and Mwani Qatar, with 73 cruise ships and over 378,000 visitors.
