Sunday, June 2, 2024 Philadelphia clinched a new world record for the largest drag queen story time, spotlighting inclusivity and diversity to kick off Pride Month . Philadelphia, America’s historic cradle of liberty, achieved a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for the “largest attendance at a drag queen story time reading” today. Celebrating the start of Pride Month, the Philadelphia Gay News organized the event, with sponsorship from Visit Philadelphia®.

The event featured renowned Philadelphia drag artists reading children’s stories to a groundbreaking audience of 263 people at the National Constitution Center, a premier institution for constitutional education and discussion. This accomplishment underscores Philadelphia’s status as an inclusive and inviting city for everyone. Brittany Lynn, an esteemed drag performer, LGBTQIA+ activist, literacy advocate, and leader of the celebrated Philly Drag Mafia, hosted the event, showcasing the following books and performers: “Philadelphia is where our country was founded, where the Declaration of Independence was debated and signed, and where some of the most significant LGBTQIA+ moments in U.
