Monday, May 27, 2024 Dr. Yahya bin Badr al Maawali, Governor of South Sharqiyah, announced that the governorate is embarking on numerous development and tourism projects, including the establishment of two new waterfronts in the Al Ashkharah area and Jaalan Bani Bu Ali. These projects are expected to bolster domestic tourism and stimulate commercial activities in the region.
The governorate is actively working on these waterfront projects, with a tender already awarded for the Jaalan Bani Bu Ali project and the bidding process soon to begin for the Al Ashkharah project. Dr. Maawali highlighted the governorate’s commitment to developing tourism infrastructure, which also includes the construction of parks and other amenities.
As of December 2022, 25 heritage and tourism projects have been identified, with a total confirmed and planned investment projected to reach RO90.51 million by 2025. This significant investment underlines the region’s dedication to becoming a premier tourist destination.
The governorate’s average summer temperature remains below 30°C, making it an attractive travel destination year-round. In 2021 and 2022, South Sharqiyah invested RO13.336 million in various development projects, with an additional RO4.
