According to Naif Al Abri, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), these airports are expected to be operational between 2028 and 2029. This development will increase the total number of airports in Oman to 13, markedly improving domestic aviation and boosting tourism across the country.
The expansion is poised to substantially increase the number of passengers using Oman’s airports. The chairman highlighted that passenger numbers are projected to rise from 17 million to 50 million by 2040. This growth reflects the anticipated impact of the new airports on both domestic and international travel.
The budget for these six new airports has already been allocated, indicating a strong commitment to enhancing Oman’s aviation and tourism sectors.
