Sunday, July 7, 2024 Ocean Park brought together over 1,000 participants today to celebrate the remarkable achievements of the Seahorse Rangers at the Ocean Park Conservation Carnival and Ocean Park Conservation Alliance Award Ceremony 2024. Over the past academic year, the Ocean Park Conservation Alliance has seen active participation from more than 3,500 students and teachers dedicated to conservation efforts. Dr.
Choi Yuk Lin, Secretary for Education of the HKSAR Government, attended the event and joined in celebrating the success of the Conservation Alliance. Legislative Council (LegCo) Members Dr. Dr.
Chow Man-kong, Deputy Chairman of the LegCo Panel on Education; Mr. Chan Siu-hung, Deputy Chairman of the LegCo Panel on Environmental Affairs; and Mr. Yim Kong, Deputy Chairman of the LegCo Panel on Economic Development, were also present.
In her speech, Dr. Choi Yuk Lin emphasized the Education Bureau’s commitment to promoting environmental education through interdisciplinary approaches. She highlighted the incorporation of environmental and sustainable development concepts into primary and secondary school curricula.
The Education Bureau encourages schools to foster students’ awareness and responsibility for nature, resource conservation, and ecological preservation through comprehensive learning activities both inside and outside the classroom. This approach helps students progress from cognition to emotion, and from emotion to action, actively practicing a green li.
