Tuesday, July 9, 2024 As the 2024 whitewater rafting season kicks off, Northern Outdoors in The Forks is collaborating with R.A.F.

T. for America to foster unity and common purpose among Americans in one of the most thrilling and unspoiled environments on the planet. Many believe that America is becoming more divided, with polarization posing a significant challenge.



However, recent surveys indicate that 89% of Americans are weary of the divisiveness, and 79% would actively engage in efforts to bridge social divides if given the chance. This year’s R.A.

F.T. for America campaign aims to underscore the notion that, as Americans, we are all in the same boat.

Despite our differences, we achieve greater success by working together rather than apart, whether navigating a whitewater river, managing daily life, or addressing issues in Congress. Maine Representatives Jennifer Poirier and Amy Arata, along with state Senator Lisa Keim, are joining forces with their counterparts from across the political spectrum to promote messages of unity. Their campaign emphasizes the importance of reaching across divides and offering alternatives to the often divisive rhetoric prevalent in media.

Poirier, Arata, and Keim frequently highlight that while it’s okay to disagree on various issues, it’s crucial to collaborate for the well-being of our nation and fellow citizens. Prioritizing listening, respectful disagreement, and seeking solutions that benefit both the country and the state of Maine.
