Friday, June 28, 2024 The 2024 Ningbo City Image Exhibition took place at the Miramar Creative Centre in Wellington, New Zealand. It featured the city image film “Ningbo” along with six short films directed by Chinese filmmakers: “Lost In Count,” “What You Can’t See,” “Where do Ants sleep at Night,” and “Graveyard of Horses.” These films delved into themes of intimacy, women, humanity’s relationship with nature, and artificial intelligence.

They also highlighted China’s picturesque grasslands, contemporary urban life, and rich traditional culture. The screening, co-curated by the 30°Ningbo Short Film Festival and the New Zealand Showtime Short Film Festival, marked Ningbo’s debut in New Zealand with a selection of its finest short films. Held at a venue that drew local film professionals, Victoria University film students, and curators from the New Zealand International Film Festival (NZIFF), the event showcased six short films that captivated the audience with their distinctive styles and profound themes.



Among the films screened, “Lost In Count” left a powerful impression, inspiring resilience in sports and competition. “What You Can’t See” provoked thought with its striking visuals and narrative, while “Graveyard of Horses” offered a contemplative exploration of the subtle bonds between women, animals, and nature. Following the screening, creators shared their behind-the-scenes insights and creative processes through a video prese.
