Friday, June 14, 2024 IATO delegation meets new Tourism Minister, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, to discuss and strategize ways to boost India’s inbound tourism and address current challenges. A delegation from the Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO), including senior members Rajiv Mehra (President), Ravi Gosain (Vice President), and Sanjay Razdan (Honorary Secretary), recently met with Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, the newly appointed Cabinet Minister of Tourism for the Government of India. This meeting, held in the minister’s office yesterday, was a courtesy visit to congratulate him on his new position.
During the discussion, the Hon’ble Tourism Minister expressed a strong interest in understanding the factors contributing to the recent decline in international tourist arrivals. He assured the delegation of the Ministry of Tourism’s full support in efforts to boost inbound tourism to India. His openness and eagerness to engage with the IATO delegation highlighted his dedication to resolving the challenges faced by the tourism industry.
The IATO delegation commended the minister’s willingness to listen and proposed another meeting to delve deeper into the issues affecting inbound tourism. They intend to offer insights and recommendations on how the Ministry of Tourism and other relevant ministries can better support the industry.
