Thursday, June 20, 2024 ITA Airways has launched a new offer tailored for pet owners, titled “Bring It with You, Now You Have More Weight and More Space.” Effective immediately under ENAC authorization, the airline has raised the maximum weight allowance for cabin-traveling animals on all domestic flights by 25%, increasing from 8 kg to 10 kg, with an additional 2 kg allowance for the carrier. This initiative aims to meet the rising customer demand for enhanced pet travel comfort.
The service includes the option to reserve window-adjacent seats, accommodating pets with the following new dimensions: ITA Airways has consistently adapted to passenger needs, continually refining services for pets onboard. With this new initiative, pets will now receive a dedicated boarding pass issued at check-in, where ground staff will manually input the pet’s name and travel details. Initially, this 25% weight increase applies exclusively to domestic flights within ITA Airways’ network and does not extend to flights connecting with other airlines.
Weight limits and carrier dimensions for the airline’s international and intercontinental flights remain unchanged for the time being..
