Friday, June 21, 2024 The IGLTA Foundation, the charitable branch of the International LGBTQ+ Travel Association (IGLTA), has unveiled a blueprint aimed at helping Caribbean destinations welcome LGBTQ+ travelers and stimulate economic development. Titled “Caribbean Kaleidoscope: Enhancing LGBTQ+ Travel,” the report presents actionable strategies to capitalize on this opportunity and nurture a prosperous LGBTQ+ tourism sector throughout the Caribbean. “The LGBTQ+ travel market represents a significant and untapped economic opportunity for the Caribbean.

But inclusion goes beyond just capturing a market share,” said John Tanzella (he/him), IGLTA President/CEO . “It’s about creating authentic experiences that welcome LGBTQ+ travelers with respect. This report equips destinations with practical strategies to achieve this, fostering a thriving LGBTQ+ travel sector that benefits everyone.



” This report proposes solutions ranging from dismantling discriminatory legal frameworks to implementing sensitivity training and enhancing infrastructure tailored to diverse needs. Key Challenges Addressed: The report stems from the 5th IGLTA Foundation Think Tank, where leaders in the travel industry convened to discuss these challenges and opportunities. The Think Tank was presented by Simpleview, with support from Google and hosted by Casa BACARDÍ Puerto Rico.
