Saturday, June 8, 2024 Green Navy , a company based in Fouesnant, leads the ‘Prometeo’ project, showcasing the first European catamaran powered by electro-hydrogen propulsion for maritime passenger transport. This innovative vessel was unveiled for the first time at NAVEXPO, a naval and maritime innovation exhibition held from May 29 to 31 in the harbor of Lorient. During the event, Green Navy hosted a conference where they presented their overarching design philosophy aimed at enhancing ship energy efficiency and reducing CO2 emissions, highlighted the technological advancements aboard Prometeo, and discussed its target market.

“In recent months, we have redoubled our efforts in promoting ongoing developments to build our first zero-emission ship,” explains Charles Cardi, Managing Director of Green Navy. “Today we benefit from the support of local authorities and administrations, financial partners, and we are followed by shipowners ready to explore the potential of our carbon-free ships. NAVEXPO allowed us to meet many professionals, partners, suppliers and operators, it was a great success.



” The technical feasibility of electro-hydrogen propulsion systems is already proven. For Green Navy, the focus is on implementing these systems in practical maritime applications that can welcome the public and ensure year-round maritime connections. During NAVEXPO, Green Navy formalized its collaboration with SECO Marine, a Nantes-based company in the Fétis group speciali.
