Monday, May 27, 2024 MTR Corporation is dedicated to fostering growth opportunities for the youth. This year, the company introduced the innovative “Train for Life’s Journeys 2.0” program, engaging over 1,000 young people from 35 secondary schools.

The highlight of this program was the Social Innovation Challenge Final, which took place 24 May 2024. At this event, several top teams earned a complimentary educational trip to explore MTR’s operations in Australia and Beijing, gaining insights into cutting-edge technologies and local cultures. The program, under the theme “On Track to Thrive,” includes a Social Innovation Challenge that encourages students to explore and address social inclusion issues like disability inclusion, gender equity, ethnic diversity, and intergenerational relationships through innovative solutions.



During today’s event, 12 teams that advanced from an earlier round presented their inventive projects, demonstrating their learning over the last six months. Po Leung Kuk Lee Shing Pik College emerged victorious, presenting an RFID-based solution aimed at enhancing accessibility for the visually impaired. Heep Yunn School, one of the four finalist teams, proposed the design of a mobile game that allows players to experience the daily lives of different ethnicities, including attire, gift-giving, and food culture to enhance the public’s understanding on people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
