Few things are as exciting as jetting off overseas for a holiday - the buzz of the airport, the excitement of a new country with a new culture and new - except, more than half of Brits have admitted they would rather eat a Full English than sample any local cuisines. More than 2000 British holidaymakers were surveyed about what they like to eat and drink while they’re abroad and the results revealed that perhaps British people are more similar to the stereotypical Brit on tour than they like to admit. The survey, conducted by budget airline , revealed that a lot of Brits tend to gravitate toward the familiar taste of home rather than sample something new.
A whopping 53% of them had sought out a full English while abroad, and a further 55% had visited a British themed pub while abroad. Men and people from the North of England were more likely to have sought out the sanctuary of an English pub - and luckily for these there are plenty of them to choose from in the popular holiday destinations like Malaga. One of these popular venues is Weatherspains - a Spanish pub that mimics the ever-popular Wetherspoons and has a 4.
5 star rating on Tripadvisor. As the survey shows Brits were likely to seek out English food for two out of every three meals, pubs like these are popping across holiday destinations like Spain to capitalise on the traditional taste buds of the masses. The top five meals that English tourists tend to turn to are a Full English (53%), fish and chips (41%), a roast.
