IRISH music and sports fans have been given a major warning ahead of this weekend over a huge taxi shortage. With Taylor Swift , Shania Twain, Longitude, a GAA match and Pride festivities all happening this weekend, fans heading to any of the events are being advised to plan ahead. With the Aviva filled with Swifties, Croke Park packed with football fans and the streets of Dublin closed off for Dublin Pride , over 600,000 people are set to be attending events in the city centre.
Dublin will host Taylor Swift in the Aviva from June 28 to 30 and Longitude Festival is taking place on the same days at Marley Park. Shania Twain performs in Malahide Castle on June 28 and The Saw Doctors and Loyle Carner at Fairview Park across the weekend. Dublin's Pride parade is on June 29, the same day the GAA Senior Football Championship quarter-finals are taking place in Croke Park.
Due to a mass influx of people in Dublin , the Taxis for Ireland Coalition has warned anyone coming into the city centre that there may be some difficulty getting home. Eoghan O’Mara Walsh, CEO of the Irish Tourism Industry Confederation, said tourists are also suffer from the taxi shortage in the capital. He said: "With thousands of people arriving in Ireland for the general tourist season and huge events like Taylor Swift at the Aviva, we are set to see strong demand for taxi services.
