Sunday, June 23, 2024 In addition to participating in the “International Cities of Gastronomy Fest, Macao”, delegates and chefs from various member cities of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network also explored different neighborhoods to familiarize themselves with the area. Chefs from different Creative Cities of Gastronomy visited local restaurants in communities for culinary exchanges and shared insights into culinary arts with chef teams from integrated resorts. The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) hopes that this outreach program can offer delegates from the Creative Cities an immersive experience of Macao’s “tourism +”, furthering exchange among cities, preserving culinary culture, and highlighting Macao’s strengths as a platform and world center of tourism and leisure.
MGTO specially designed four community tour routes, which about 100 delegates from different Creative Cities worldwide signed up for. These itineraries covered many attractions in the World Heritage site of “The Historic Centre of Macao”, including the Ruins of St. Paul’s, Na Tcha Temple, St.
Dominic’s Church, Holy House of Mercy, Senado Square, A-Ma Temple, Moorish Barracks, and Mandarin’s House. Delegates also visited the Macao Grand Prix Museum, engaged in the preparation of Macanese sticky rice, participated in tea art and appreciation, and visited various markets and restaurants for a taste of signature delicacies.
