An update on the M62 closure has been issued by Highways England. A stretch of the westbound carriage has been closed since 5.30am following a crash between two lorries and a car.
The access links from the M6 to the M62 have also been closed to ease congestion on the approach to junction nine. is providing as delays and congestion remains, according to National Highways. A spokesperson for National Highways said: "Drivers in the North West are advised that a section of the M62 is expected to remain closed into this afternoon following a serious collision in Cheshire.
"National Highways was alerted to the collision involving one car and two HGVs on the westbound carriageway between Junctions 9 ( ) and 8 (Burtonwood) at 5.30am on Thursday, 11 July 2024. "Emergency services are at the scene and work to recover the vehicles underway, but this is expected to take considerable time.
"Heavy congestion is likely, and drivers are advised to find an alternative route. "The motorway has been closed westbound between Junction 9 (Warrington) and Junction 7 (Rainhill Stoops)." Aftermath Support is the North West Charity for those affected by serious road incidents.
