West Yorkshire Police said the man, who was from Huddersfield , was crossing lanes as he approached the slip road entrance for junction 41 on the northbound carriageway of the M1 when his Ford Ranger crashed into the central reservation. Emergency services attempted and fought to save his life, but he died at the scene following the crash at around 8.25pm on Sunday (May 19).

The force is now appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward. A statement said: “A full investigation is ongoing into the circumstances of the incident today and police are keen to speak with anyone who saw or has footage of the car from junction 42 of the M1 onwards.
