local time, destined for Birmingham on the technologically advanced Airbus A320neo. This marks a significant milestone as passengers will experience the renowned Lufthansa customer service aboard one of the most state-of-the-art and fuel-efficient aircraft designed for short to medium-haul routes. Ticketing for these routes has been available since April through the established Lufthansa Group sales channels, utilizing the new airline code “VL”.
The initial route network includes cities like Düsseldorf, Cologne, Hanover, and Bremen. Come July 27, a second Airbus, the A319, will begin servicing additional destinations such as Bordeaux, Hamburg, and Berlin. This expansion is just the beginning, as Lufthansa City Airlines plans to extend its network across more European destinations.
In terms of fleet enhancement, the airline will grow its initial fleet of five Airbus A320 family aircraft to include at least eight additional A320neos and more A319s next year.
